About me

With a rucksack on my back I stepped off a train in 1991 and embraced the champagne region. After a few years of teaching I moved to the South West of France and used my new circumstances to change professions. I have now spent over fifteen years living and working at the junction of the Dordogne/Charente/Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne departments and have not felt the slightest inkling to leave this endearing country and its charming locals. About my area

The Area of Ste Foy La Grande. At the point where three of France’s administrative departments meet – Gironde, Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne – the Pays Foyen is a little corner of Périgord. Set between Saint-Emilion to the west and Bergerac to the east, this delightful 14th-century fortified town is just waiting to be discovered: its narrow streets, square with arcades, half-timbered houses, etc... I have now spent over fifteen years living and working at the junction of the Dordogne/Charente/Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne departments and have not felt the slightest inkling to leave this endearing country and its charming locals. From long sunny summers to crisp winter days the Périgord enjoys four seasons that each offer their own special delights. Winter truffles, spring strawberries, summer asparagus and autumn mushrooms are but a tiny sample of the local produce not to mention the delectable wines for sweet palettes or well trained connoisseurs. Come and make your very own experiences in this remarkable part of France free from heavy industry, overcrowding and stress. close

The Pays Foyen offers a surprising range of nautical activities (canoeing, boat trips, rowing,...) and leisure activities (horse riding, flying, cycling, tennis, mountain biking...) and a great many crafts, but also festivals and events all year long. Guest houses, gîtes, hotels, campsites, unusual accommodation in old-fashioned caravans or “bories” (typical Périgord smallholdings) – you are bound to find holiday accommodation suited to your taste! You will also fall under the charm of the town’s Saturday morning market, ranked as one of the top 100 in France. close
