I came to the beautiful Aude Valley nine years ago from the UK. Moving here was one of the best
decisions I ever made. I love the gentler pace of life, the fresh air and mountain walks, the warmth
of the sun all year round. French cuisine, fine wines and culture, swimming in the lake, driving with

During the pandemic I began a writing project with ten women who, like me were relatively new to
our French town Quillan. We published our stories about our life journeys to France in both
English and French. In 2025 I edited a second book of stories from ten men from all over the
world who had also decided to settle here in the Aude. We are all happy to have made the move
and call France home and it was a privilege to share in their stories.
In my role as an estate agent, I enjoy helping other people to find their home in France

Quillan is a charming, lively market town on the river Aude, nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

produce, cafés, wine bars and restaurants, bakeries, schools, shops, an arts centre, a cinema,

Quillan and at the edge of the town you can find supermarkets and a swimming lake with tapas
and cocktail bar. In the Summer the towns are bustling with tourists who come to enjoy the wealth
of activities available; the stunning UNESCO medieval city of Carcassonne and the many Cathar
castles of the Aude; beautiful Toulouse with its great choice of independent shops, restaurants
and museums; the river Aude with its variety of water sports; cycling, wine tasting, dancing in the
square or just simply sitting on the terrace of a café, watching the world go by!
